The 2026 BMW iX is a luxury midsize electric SUV with a five-passenger Sports Activity Vehicle body style and cargo space behind the second row. It competes with other premium electric SUVs such as the Audi Q8 e-tron, Rivian R1S, and Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV. The 2026 model year includes a midcycle refresh with updates to the front fascia that incorporate body-color accents, slimmer adaptive LED headlights, an illuminated kidney grille, and a new base xDrive45 trim. The powertrain consists of a dual-motor all-wheel-drive electric system producing outputs from 402 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque in the xDrive45 to 650 horsepower in the top M70, supported by a battery pack that delivers EPA-estimated ranges of 312 to 364 miles depending on the variant.

The iX features BMW's iDrive 8.5 infotainment system presented on a curved panoramic display that integrates a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a central touchscreen. The interface provides access to maps, media, and climate controls via customizable widgets, along with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a voice assistant that processes natural-language queries. For 2026, software updates improve navigation responsiveness and add personalization options to the driver assistance features, such as highway assist and parking aids, while the core EV architecture carries over with efficiency enhancements that support range improvements. The My BMW app supports management of over-the-air software updates delivered up to four times a year, as well as optional subscriptions for remote services and premium connectivity.
