The 2026 Hyundai Nexo is a compact hydrogen fuel cell SUV with seating for five in a crossover body style. Hydrogen vehicle options in the US are limited, primarily to the Toyota Mirai sedan, alongside prototypes such as the Honda CR-V e:FCEV in select areas with supporting infrastructure. It shares market space with battery electrics like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, or hybrids including the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid that provide comparable size and utility. This second-generation Nexo features a redesigned exterior with boxier styling, dimensions increased by three inches in length, slightly wider and taller than the previous model, wider-opening rear doors, and expanded cabin space. The standard front-wheel-drive powertrain consists of a 94-kW proton-exchange membrane fuel cell stack, 201-hp electric motor with 258 lb-ft of torque, and 2.6-kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering an EPA-estimated range of up to 436 miles.

The infotainment system runs on Hyundai's ccNC platform across dual 12.3-inch curved screens combining the digital gauge cluster and multimedia display, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, generative AI voice recognition, optional head-up display, and available 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio. Key 2026 features include the panoramic cockpit interface and driver assistance technologies such as Highway Driving Assist 2, navigation-based smart cruise control, blind-spot view monitor, and parking collision-avoidance assist, refined with updated sensors. Bluelink app integration supports remote start, preconditioning, theft alerts, vehicle tracking, and over-the-air updates for software, maps, and ADAS, though some connected services require subscriptions.
