The 2026 Mazda3 is positioned in the compact car segment and is available in sedan or hatchback body styles. It is frequently compared to vehicles like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Hyundai Elantra. For 2026, the model carries over from the generation that began in 2019, incorporating minor updates such as additional standard equipment on entry-level trims and a streamlined lineup that no longer includes the Carbon Turbo package. The base powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter inline-four engine rated at 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive standard; all-wheel drive is optional on most trims, while a six-speed manual transmission is available exclusively on the 2.5 S Premium hatchback with the base engine. A turbocharged version of the 2.5-liter engine is offered on the top trim, producing up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque with premium fuel.

The Mazda3 features the Mazda Connect infotainment system with an 8.8-inch display as standard equipment, upgrading to a 10.25-inch screen with touchscreen capability for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus trim. Wireless smartphone integration, Bluetooth audio streaming, and Alexa Built-in voice commands are available on higher trims. Standard i-Activsense driver-assistance technologies include Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Smart Brake Support, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Select upper trims provide additional features such as Cruising & Traffic Support for highway assistance, a 360-degree view monitor with front and rear parking sensors, and Smart Brake Support in reverse. The MyMazda app enables remote vehicle monitoring, lock/unlock functions, and geofencing after a one-year complimentary trial, with continued access through a subscription; the system supports over-the-air software updates.
