The 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact SUV with seating for five passengers in a two-row layout and cargo space behind the rear seats. It competes with models such as the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Mazda CX-5. Following the full redesign introduced for 2025, the 2026 model carries over the same body and platform with the addition of a new SEL R-Line Turbo top trim featuring a higher-output engine. The powertrain on most trims consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine producing 201 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque with front-wheel drive, or 221 pound-feet with all-wheel drive, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission; all-wheel drive is available on higher trims.

The Tiguan includes Volkswagen's Digital Cockpit Pro infotainment system with a standard 12.9-inch touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with built-in navigation, complemented by a 10.25-inch configurable digital instrument cluster. The 2026 model adds a 15-inch infotainment screen to the SEL R-Line Turbo trim and makes the IQ.DRIVE driver assistance suite standard across the lineup, which includes adaptive cruise control with lane centering, blind-spot monitoring, and emergency assist for semi-automated highway driving. The myVW app enables remote start, vehicle location tracking, and service alerts, while over-the-air updates maintain infotainment and safety features; some connected services such as remote parking assist require subscriptions after the trial period.
